Christmas Lights Trends
I am an avid follower of Christmas lights trends. I have loved all types of Christmas lighting since I was a little child. I can still remember, as a child, glancing up at that paste board box placed on a high shelf in our cold storage room, knowing that it held our precious strings of shimmering Christmas lights. In those days Christmas lights were highly fragile so I knew not to try to pull the box down for a quick glimpse however tempting it might be.
Over the years, all types of Christmas lights have been transformed. The days of strings of screw-in incandescent light bulbs have gone. Although with the demise of those strings of Christmas bulbs go some of my fond Christmas memories. On a random day in early December my dad would arrive home from the office and announce it was time to put up the Christmas lights. He would put on what he referred to as his grubby clothes and make the pilgrimage to the cold storage room to collect the paste board box full of Christmas lights. He would then begin the process of testing each bulb in the string. If one bulb had burnt out often the entire string of Christmas lights would fail to light up. Some years putting up the outdoor Christmas lights went quickly but some years we were sent to bed without seeing the final glorious display of Christmas lighting. I have never lost any of my enthusiasm for these wonderful sparkly rites of late December.
These days there is an enormous array of different types of Christmas lighting. Of course, there are still many strings of white and red and green bulbs but now there are many other options as well. There are spectacular focus pieces such as hanging light balls, and hanging lighted Christmas stars, each made from over 100 tiny led bulbs. Some of these focus pieces are very large and taken up a visually large space (ie. 3 feet by 3 feet) while others are much smaller and can easily fit into most home Christmas lighting schemes.
There are Christmas string lights. These are simply the popular white outdoor string lights constructed with red and green led lights. Of course, white string lights are also a perfectly suitable addition to many Christmas lighting decor schemes.
The annual lighting of Christmas lights can be wonderful small family times or they can result in a splashy party. For example, Stella McCartney has a few friends over when she lit her Christmas lights last week. The event was held at Stella McCartney store on Bruton Street in London. It was hosted by Stella and Mary McCartney, Twiggy and daughter Carly, Jamie and Louise Redknapp and the Mighty Boosh gang, who re-created their famous Nanageddon episode dressed as grey-haired "nanas". Stella and her friends served mini mince pies, chocolate Christmas puddings, Champagne, apple juice with cucumber and pints of Guinness. I will try to post a pictures of her Christmas lights scheme in a latter post.
Whatever your Christmas lights scheme might be do it with joy. It doesn't matter if you have a huge budget (like SMc.mentioned above)or a modest budget. It doesn't matter if you host a blow out party or just put up the lights yourself. Holiday lighting is a special thing and, whatever the next Christmas lights trends might be, they are sure to be beautiful.

Sticks and Stones Look There is a Home!
To Tree, Or Not To Tree
I love Christmas. I love Christmas music. I love Christmas decorations. Do I love Christmas trees? I wonder.
Beside me stands a monstrous, decorated intrusion into the order of my life. As tradition dictates in the Sleadd home, the furniture gets rearranged from Thanksgiving weekend until New Year’s Day to accommodate a coniferous guest. Thus, the measured juxtaposition of my arm chair, book stand, and reading lamp has been set awry by the merry boughs of imposition.
I grow contemplative and cautious. If I make room for a tree in my house and den, will I next make room for blatant idolatry in my life and habits? And what’s a Christmas tree got to do with the birth of Christ anyway? I don’t recall the gospel of Luke mentioning an evergreen tree stuffed into the stable in Bethlehem to crowd out the cattle.
I’ve heard stories about Martin Luther finding deep symbolism in a spruce tree he saw one night when he was feeling spiritually frisky. But I suspect that some German tree farmer found a way to sell more trees if he added holiday appeal, like a printer proclaiming a special day for the purpose of selling more greeting cards. It seems dryly ironic to claim an evergreen tree represents eternal life in Christ, then to chop it down and set it in one’s house to whither into a parched, fire hazard.
For the record, my Christmas tree is artificial, so it probably won’t burn the house down. And it’s actually quite pleasant to look at. It is perfectly conical and uniformly green. Its wire branches are evenly distributed with factory precision, and stiff enough to hold up the heaviest ornaments China can make. Few real trees look so good, or require so little care.
But herein lies a typological quandary, which tests the native hue of resolution: What are we to make of Christmas tree symbolism when the specimen is a hypocrite, a plastic phony, a green-washed Pharisee stuck in a tree stand. Must give us pause. Maybe that’s why a rash of American governors, and the president himself, recently couldn’t decide whether to call them Christmas trees, or Holiday trees.
I've not delved into the Christmas tree's alleged pagan past, nor will I. Research the subject yourself and find enough ambiguity to also give one pause. Alas, you must decide for yourself what to do about such trees. I recommend you enjoy holiday liberty as you practice whatever is God honoring and beneficial.
Me thinks I'll let my Christmas tree remain standing in the house, as usual. Though if the Christ of Christmas has not returned by next December I'll probably have to think it all through again, to tree, or not to tree.
Have a Merry Christmas this year.

A new look and handling for .Tel?
TelProxy could look and work like "community-landing.html", and everybody would start talking about the dot tel domain: http://www.telnic.com/community-landing.html
Inspired by Telnic's community-landing cycle/circle:
Below:
Icons and .tel logo are neatly integrated. Handling is fun and time saving. You will never have to scrawl down anymore, as all links are always displayed within a circle. Subdomains, are circles, as well. There are no more rect angular cards, but only round cards:
Below:
Definitely not cool. But only outdated and ugly, and hindering Telnic's success. It is not only all about technology, but also about looks. Here you see the "non-go-design" from Telnic. Not quite sure, why they only make their website cool, but not the dot tel domain itself:

A gente procurava encrenca. As professoras eram insuportáveis! |
