Chicago Half-Marathon
I paid my money for the race. All $75 of it. And the plane ticket will be purchased shortly.
Shad Dad and I are running a half-marathon together on September 13th in Chicago! I've got a little less than a month and a half to prepare. Whew! I'm excited to run with my Dad. He's in pretty decent shape for a Dad.... :)

Yeah the tough is getting goin...deprived of time and thereby ignoring even the basic sensation to pee, spending day, night and weekends in front of a monitor with lots of pending activities on my plate, sitting across tables listening to high end technical talks with the most uninteresting people in the world, gulping down lays and cheetos for lunch essentially at 4:00pm, realizing that I have a gadget called mobile phone after hours of royally ignoring its existence and finding smses from HSBC and Airtel ads flooding my inbox, and so on and so forth. This is currently my situation.No imaginative exaggeration attached. Makes me think I was so virtously destined to toil four years at that fateful instituition to gain this.!I'm certainly not doing what I want to, but basically, I want to do this, I sometimes find it interesting, I am mentally and physically involved in my work, but man, I need a break!
There is a ten minute walk from where I am diligently dropped everyday at 9:00pm to my home, and this is certainly not a joyful stride.I am called to overcome faunal hurdles of pretentiously sleeping dogs which await my arrival to wake up and potentially alert the entire lot of street dogs in that locality.Back home, I thank God for helping me reach home, safe from the deadly jaws of street animals, and for my ego, I would definitely not want to die so early, and for a reason if that ever happens,being bitten by a street dog is ceratinly not acceptable.
Poor blog is cerainly mirroring my thoughts err , frustration now!Poor thing. Damn it! Thats what you are meant to do!Bear the brunt of my momentary contraventions... God, did I deliver my work without getting it quality-checked...oh Holy Lamb of God! Help this poor sinner realize that life is not always the weekend...how long do I have to wait to reach the Pearly gates?

Hyde Park, Frederic Joseph Walker memorial fountain
On the western side of Hyde Park, this fountain is a focal point for people and birds. It features mosaic tiles and sits close to the sandstone statues that I showed yesterday. The plaque nearby reads as follows: This fountain was presented to the City of Sydney by the family of Frederic Joseph Walker as a tribute to his memory and all who pioneered primary industry in Australia. 15th February 1961.

Goodbye Old Furniture, Goodbye
For those of you with "extra" furniture: Do what I do: I have listed 6 different items (actually 11 if count the 5 piece bedroom set) on Craigslist this morning: All but one has sold. ALREADY! And I might have listed a couple items (EVERY single item!) for more than I actually paid for them originally. And the "customers" come pick up the furniture. It is such a wonderful thing. I really can't believe it. I thought for sure I was going to have to twist Kent's arm into making a run to the Salvation Army and dropping off our unwanted furniture. Instead, my pockets are FULL of cash!
I think it might be better than eBay. Maybe.

Net banking with UCO bank is a nightmare.
One of the most pathetically designed e-commerce website is ucoebanking.com.
My unpleasant experience:
* I have applied for e-banking with UCO bank and after a long delay, I received an email that I should collect my login details from my local UCO bank branch.
* Then the headache began. Till now, I might have tried nearly 40 times aided by all of my Internet knowledge to log into my personal banking with UCO bank but never even saw the log in page.
* I tried first my usual Firefox browser. I got this error message.
APPLICATION SECURITY ERROR !!
This error has occured (the spelling mistake is not mine) for one of the following reasons :
# You have used Back/Forward/Refresh button of your Browser.
# You have clicked twice on any options/buttons.
# You have kept the browser window idle for a long time.
# You have logged in from another browser window
# You are accessing the application URL from a saved or static page.
# You have not used "Microsoft Internet Explorer" Browser.
*Since none of the above cited reasons didn't apply to me, I tried Internet Explorer browser.

I have been dealing with ICICI bank's net banking and find it to be top class.
My unpleasant experience:
* I have applied for e-banking with UCO bank and after a long delay, I received an email that I should collect my login details from my local UCO bank branch.
* Then the headache began. Till now, I might have tried nearly 40 times aided by all of my Internet knowledge to log into my personal banking with UCO bank but never even saw the log in page.
* I tried first my usual Firefox browser. I got this error message.
APPLICATION SECURITY ERROR !!
This error has occured (the spelling mistake is not mine) for one of the following reasons :
# You have used Back/Forward/Refresh button of your Browser.
# You have clicked twice on any options/buttons.
# You have kept the browser window idle for a long time.
# You have logged in from another browser window
# You are accessing the application URL from a saved or static page.
# You have not used "Microsoft Internet Explorer" Browser.
*Since none of the above cited reasons didn't apply to me, I tried Internet Explorer browser.

What Does Tree-Ripened Mean Anyway?
As we always say at Eckert's, the freshest, best tasting peach is when it is eaten right after being picked from its branch. Much to everyone'e dismay, this is not the way we typically get to enjoy our peaches. Many people ask us how our peaches still taste so sweet and fresh even when purchased from our store, so we thought we would let you in on our little secret.
Eckert's peaches are left on the tree longer, in order to maximize sweetness and flavor. The longer a peach hangs on the tree, the more sugar it produces. Once the peach is picked, all sugar production subsides. We have the advantage of tree-ripening, because all of our peaches are sold locally. Peaches that are shipped long distances have to be picked earlier, so they will not bruise and blemish. While these peaches might look pretty, they are usually not near as sweet because of being harvested prematurely.
After the peaches are handpicked at Eckert's, our hydrocooling process removes the "field heat" by flooding the fruit with large volumes of chilled water. This technique halts the ripening process so that our peaches can travel to our farms and stores in perfect condition.

Read this before you buy diet supplements.
“Are there diet-supplements for people who have blood pressure?”-I asked my family doctor. He gave me an odd look that suggested a little bit of bewilderment.
Since he knew me for so long, he is sure that I was not asking this question for me. There is no way I can put pressure on my blood as I am one of the easiest persons. Nothing in this life ever bothers me.
Without replying me directly, he pushed over some papers across his table and asked me to read them.
I was shocked. And yes, I was angry too though I have never used diet supplements in my life.
What I read surely made my blood boil and the color on my face might have indicated the doctor that I am beginning to have blood pressure.

Okay - I lied on Monday when I said nothing interesting was going on.... Yesterday we bought our first house. Sooo excited. It's in the same subdivision we live in right now. We close August 31st. Ahhh! More pictures to come, don't worry.
Changing my focus...
it is more than time to change my focus.
What is God calling me to do? How can I practically become His hands and feet to those in need?
God doesn't want me to be comfortable. He doesn't want me to be complacent. He wants to challenge me, He wants me to go places and live my life with Him. God has not called you or I to build our lives around the pursuit of our own selfish desires, but to be poured-out sacrifices for His kingdom.
In the past few years, God has challenged me at a whole new level about what it means to be a living sacrifice for Him. He has asked me to get uncomfortable with the things that used to comfort me. He has led my husband and I to adopt a baby girl with special needs who would need extra care and love and patience beyond words.
Looking to minister to others now just looking for the place to do this ....

Golden eye, through my eyes!
A day at my hometown for a short weekend vacation would mean , tuning my ears to receive high frequency, high decibel sound from digital home theatre playing 007 movies. I have a bunch of little English-movie-savvy cousins too, enough to form a cricket team, who would totally get glued to it, and we would have to wait for the Tsunami to come if we were to make them get up from their seats and wash their hands for lunch/dinner. Small kids na, these are normal natural instincts of age, and that explains the fascination for Bond and his non existent gadgets.
Taking a little time off my errr..what was I doing. ..yeah productively roaming around the house, I engaged myself to five minutes of ‘Golden Eye’ that they were watching. There’s a forest, Bond , a stunning woman whose name I obviously don’t know, near a small pond. Wow…dho pyar karnewale jungle mein..ho gaye... Bollywood would have made four generations of Bond in that location itself. To my surprise, a large tower emerged out of the little pond, sequentially, meter by meter, and Bond and the girl looking on as if they were watching the rain. And there was the tower, almost as tall as the towers of our service providers. I screamed (I have to scream to get their attention as the volume was totally out of my hearing capabilities) ‘What is that’ ? ‘Tower’ came the collective reply in a microsecond. The faster they answer, the lesser the time they lose in between, as no one is allowed to distract; they were just trying to be nice to me. And my next question came in the next second itself. By this time, most of them had given me options enough through their facial expressions –It read- just leave or shut up. The former would be a more welcome choice. My next question was a concatenated series of unanswerable questions, may be to Bond himself. ‘ Tower? What do they do with that? What does it actually do? ‘ At this, the expressions I saw on their faces was priceless. Little Bond fans looking at each other and communicating eye to eye as to who will explain that to me.
So my question is answered. Its not just me!!!
