Waterloo, library

Waterloo Library is a heritage listed building in the inner city suburb of Waterloo. The building was originally the Waterloo Town Hall, designed by John Smedley and built in 1881 in the Victorian Italianate style. It is historically significant as evidence of the small inner city council areas which were subsumed into larger municipalities.

Sydney Town Hall, Sydney 2000 Olympics, 10th anniversary celebrations

The Sydney Town Hall this week featured light projections to celebrate of the 10th anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The theme of the display was "The Best Olympic Games Ever", a declaration made after the games by Juan Antonio Samaranch, President of the International Olympic Committee. It was created as a thank you to the thousands of volunteers who participated in the games. A cauldron also burnt brightly at the entrance of the town hall.

Sydney Town Hall, Christmas Night Lights

Sydney Town Hall has been featuring Christmas Projections, a light show depicting an Australian version of the 12 Days of Christmas, until tonight. The 12 Days of a Sydney Christmas featured are: 12 Wattle Blossoms, 11 Flying Foxes, 10 Kookaburras, 9 Blue Bottles, 8 Lots of Different Cultures, 7 Yachts are Sailing, 6 Blue Tongue Lizards, 5 Plenty of Parks, 4 King Parrots, 3 Bottle Brushes, 2 Old Echidnas and 1 Pink Cocky (Galah) in a Gum Tree. The projections have been on rotation every night from 8.30pm, just after sunset when there's still a little bit of light in the sky and throughout the night. Enfield, town hall and war memorial

The Enfield war memorial (left) sits outside the old Enfield Town Hall (right), on Coronation Parade in the south western suburb of Enfield. This war memorial was built as a World War I memorial and unveiled in 1924. The 105mm Howitzer gun on the sandstone pedestal was donated by the French government in recognition of Australia’s wartime assistance during World War I.

Sydney Town Hall, Christmas

The Sydney Town Hall is one of the public buildings decorated every year for Christmas. A Christmas tree surrounded by flower boxes is located in the middle of Sydney Square (below), beside the town hall.

Rockdale Town Hall

Rockdale Town Hall is located on the Princes Highway, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. The local government area was originally known as the West Botany Municipality, declared on the 13th January 1871. It became The Municipality of Rockdale in 1884, when the suburb name also changed. It was was declared a city in 1995, and is now known as the City of Rockdale.
