This shopfront and residential building is located on Scott Street, in the south western suburb of Liverpool. It was originally built in 1875 but was restored and refurbished in 2002. It currently houses a Dental Surgery and Chiropractic Practice.

Liverpool, Pioneers’ Memorial Park

Pioneers’ Memorial Park is bounded by Campbell Street, Macquarie Street and the Hume Highway, in the south western suburb of Liverpool. This was originally the site of St Lukes Cemetery. In 1970 the old cemetery was converted into a rest park, featuring original headstones and a memorial wall. This was the resting place of many prominent pioneers of this area and their families.

This pedestrian bridge provides a safe crossing across the busy Newbridge Road in the south western suburb of Liverpool. This contemporary office building has been built on the edge of the ever expanding commercial area.

Liverpool, Pioneers’ Memorial Park, monument

This memorial in 1980 in Pioneers’ Memorial Park in the south western suburb of Liverpool, was erected by Rotary International. It is dedicated to the men, women and children who through their pioneering spirit and determination established Macquarie Town, now known as Liverpool. This piece of old farming equipment on the plinth, reflects on the past.

Liverpool, All Saints Catholic Church

All Saints Catholic Church is located on the corner of George Street and Elizabeth Street, in the south western suburb of Liverpool. This church, built in 1963, is an example of post World War 2 ecclesiastical architecture with a feeling of gothic inspired simplicity. The sun was breaking through but the threatening grey sky brought the showers thundering down a few minutes later.

Liverpool, monument and lamp

This unique war memorial that features an old street lamp is located on the corner of Macquarie Street and Memorial Avenue at Liverpool. It commemorates Australia's involvement in the Boer War and a local soldier who died in the conflict at Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Liverpool, sculpture

This statue in the grounds of St Lukes Anglican Church of a Winged Ox is apparently a symbol of St Luke.

Liverpool, St Lukes Anglican Church

St Lukes Anglican Church is located at the corner of Northumberland Street and Elizabeth Drive at Liverpool. This heritage listed church claims to be the oldest Anglican church in Australia. It was designed by convict architect Francis Greenway in the Georgian architectural style and completed in 1819.

Liverpool, Lighthorse Park

Lighthorse Park, beside the Georges River at Liverpool, features a war memorial to the Australian Light Horse Brigade. The concrete pillar (left) which is engraved with two Light Horsemen and a Light Horseman’s slouch hat was unveiled on teh 11th November, 1988. The other monument in the park is a restored steam engine (right) produced by Marshall, Sons & Co. It looks impressive but I couldn't find any information about why it has been placed in the middle of the park as a monument.

Liverpool, Georges River

This wharf on the Georges River at Liverpool (left) sits beside Lighthorse Park. I caught a flock of ducks flying past, across the river (right).

Liverpool shops

This pedestrian mall in Macquarie Street (above left), the main street of Liverpool, runs between Moore Street and Elizabeth Drive. The Westfield shopping centre was also extended on Macquarie Street (above right) and Northumberland Street to now cover three blocks.

Liverpool park

Bigge Park in the southwestern suburb of Liverpool features a clock tower, bandshell (left) and war memorial (right).

Liverpool college

Liverpool Technical and Further Education (TAFE) College features a number of heritage buildings designed by the convict architect Francis Greenway that were previously used as hospital facilities. Over the years these facilities have been used for different purposes and known as the Colonial Medical Service Hospital, Benevolent Asylum, Government Asylum, State Hospital and Asylum, before becoming a technical college.
