This fountain is located outside the Oatlands Golf Club, in the north western suburb of Oatlands. The Oatlands Golf Course, which was opened in 1931, is known for such annual events as the NSW Women's Open Championship.

Australian Hall, Elizabeth Street

The Australian Hall on Elizabeth Street is a heritage building built in the Federation Romanesque architectural style. It was erected between 1910 and 1913 as a club for German migrants, known as the Concordia. The Knights of the Southern Cross, a right-wing Catholic fraternal lay group, purchased it in 1920 and constructed the Australian Hall in the building. They sold it in 1979 to the Hellenic Club and Greek Cypriots used it as the Cyprus Hellene Club. This is the site of the first national Aboriginal civil rights gathering convened by the Aborigines Progressive Association and held in 1938, known as the “Day of Mourning”. The building was purchased in 1999 by the Metropolitan Aboriginal Association Incorporated and refurbished, with the hall restored to its 1938 state. It is the first non-Aboriginal structure to be recognised in Australia as an Aboriginal heritage site. NAIDOC week, which this year runs from 3rd July to 11th July, is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions of Indigenous Australians in various fields.

Bridge Lane, nightclub

The entrance to Fake nightclub is located in Bridge Lane. Fake Club is part of Tank nightclub which is in this redeveloped warehouse building. Quite a colourful sign and door for this otherwise drab laneway. Bridge Lane is almost deserted during the day but comes alive at night.

Darling Point, yacht club

The Crusing Yacht Club of Australia is located along Rushcutters Bay, but officially in the suburb of Darling Point. The Crusing Yacht Club of Australia is home to the annual Sydney Hobart Yacht Race which begins on Boxing Day. Haberfield, Iron Cove

The view across Iron Cove to Dobroyd Point in the inner west suburb of Haberfield. The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) Rowing Club can be seen on the shore here. This area is also known for great Federation style houses some of which can be seen here on the hill.

Bondi Icebergs Swimming Club

The Bondi Icebergs Swimming Club is located above the swimming pools at the southern end of Bondi Beach. The Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club was founded in 1929 by a group of committed local Bondi lifesavers who wanted to to maintain their fitness during the winter months. The club moved from a tin shed to new premises in 1960. The current building which opened in 2002 is the only licensed winter swimming club in the world and features bars and restaurants.

Coogee beach

Coogee is an eastern suburb of Sydney. The waves seen crashing here on the rocks (left) are on the northern side of Coogee Beach, beside a rock pool. The Coogee Surf Life Saving Club (right) is perched at the top of the cliff at the southern end of the beach.

Carlton, St George Dragons

It's Autumn and the rubgy league football season has just begun. I thought I'd share a couple of landmarks associated with my NRL football team, the St George Illawarra Dragons. St George Dragons have a long tradition in the competition since 1921. They merged with a newer team, the Illawarra Steelers back in 1998. Their Sydney homeground stadium is at Jubilee Oval in Carlton, which features a Walk of Fame (left) at the entrance. Just down the road on the Princes Highway in Beverley Park is the St George Leagues Club (right).

Arncliffe community

The Arncliffe Returned and Services League (RSL) Club (left) is on Wollongong Road, beside Arncliffe Park. The Arncliffe Community Centre (right) is on Barden Street and includes Coronation Hall.
