Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney Showground Main Arena

The Main Arena at Sydney Showground at Homebush Bay was another stadium that was used during the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. It is now used as the showring for the Royal Agricultural Society during the annual Royal Easter Show.

Sydney Olympic Park, Stadium Australia and Superdome

Stadium Australia (top) is the former Olympic Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, now known as ANZ Stadium. The Sydney Superdome (bottom) is an undecover stadium, now known as Acer Arena.

Sydney Olympic Park stadiums

The Hockey Centre, Basketball Centre, Athletics Centre and Aquatic Centre at Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush Bay.

Sydney Football Stadium

The Sydney Football Stadium at Moore Park, which is also known as Aussie Stadium, is used for many major sport matches and cultural events such as rock concerts. The SFS is the home ground to a number of professionalteams in the different football codes popular in Australia, including the Sydney Roosters in NRL rugby league, New South Wales Waratahs in Super 14 rugby union and Sydney FC in A-League soccer. The Sydney Swans in the AFL Australian Rules Football play their home ground matches next door at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It is also the venue for many semi-finals and preliminary finals in these competitions and hosts many international matches.

Carlton, St George Dragons

It's Autumn and the rubgy league football season has just begun. I thought I'd share a couple of landmarks associated with my NRL football team, the St George Illawarra Dragons. St George Dragons have a long tradition in the competition since 1921. They merged with a newer team, the Illawarra Steelers back in 1998. Their Sydney homeground stadium is at Jubilee Oval in Carlton, which features a Walk of Fame (left) at the entrance. Just down the road on the Princes Highway in Beverley Park is the St George Leagues Club (right).

Sydney Cricket Ground

Cricket is the top summer sport played in Australia. This week, the Third Cricket Test between Australia and South Africa is being played in Sydney. Here are a couple of photos of the Sydney Cricket Ground entrances in Driver Avenue at Moore Park. The historic Members' Pavilion and Ladies' Pavilion are shown at the top and the newer Brewongle Stand is shown on the bottom.
