What is IT Tool Box?

Oh, immediately I posted about my misgivings on Vista preloaded computers, I stumbled on to a website that has lot of news, tutorials on Vista. The website is called IT Tool Box.

They it is a community of peers with the main purpose of sharing their knowledge in IT field; exactly what I need as I am a novice.

Their blog contains plenty of very useful posts on various security issues on Vista among other matters.

Also lot of job offers are posted there for network engineers, database experts, programmers, systems engineers and so on.

Plenty of high tech tutorials are also posted but I confess they are no use to me. I am sure their web site will be a great boon for technical people.

Pass it on folks.

Vista preloaded computers.

Of course the temptation is irresistible to buy a latest pc with Windows Vista preloaded in India.
The features of Vista entice me to go for it but I wonder if it has still some bugs.

I have been hearing that one should not buy it at the beginning because it may require some more fine tuning but I suppose it is only rumors. One can trust Microsoft for their professionalism.

In India, I already started getting handbills delivered at my doorstep offering Vista preloaded pcs at just Rs.25000 a piece but can it be that low? Will it be genuine?

It is being offered with only 512MB RAM only; I heard Vista requires one GM RAM.

Perhaps I must wait and proceed.

Chinese New Year celebrations are held around Chinatown.
A new lantern float has been created every year for the animal that represents that year of the Chinese zodiac. The lanterns are used in the Chinese New Year parade and then displayed at Belmore Park, opposite Central railway station, for a week of celebrations.

Is it just a rumor in search engine forums?

No blogger can stay afloat in the blogosphere without participating in blogging related forums and other webmaster forums.

In most of the forums, I came across people discussing whether Google is giving more weight to latent semantic indexing (LSI) in its algorithm! Obviously none can say this for sure and most brush it away as mere rumor.

But, I don’t think so, because I have been reading regularly the blog posts of USWeb.com and I consider them as very informative that makes a lot of sense.

As per them LSI essentially determines how words are related to each other, such as how dog is related to cat. Many people think this has to do with content on your own website but from our analysis it has more to do with the page that a link is coming from when it is hyperlinked to your website.

The factors that LSI looks at are the Title Tag and the textual content of the page that your link is on. Therefore it is becoming more important to increase link popularity by receiving links on different pages of different websites that have content that is similar to the content on your website.

One more matter to concentrate is not just relying on a single keyword but on several keywords which should point to your web pages.

Therefore it is becoming more important to increase link popularity by receiving links on different pages of different websites that have content that is similar to the content on your website. This is the natural way that popular websites remain popular and rank well in the search engines.

Webmasters should think of issuing a web release through Blogitive’s network of bloggers and let them blog about your release and link to your website in any manner you want, including any URL and any keyword phrase.

Google's new tool for webmasters.

Which webmaster or blogger is not interested in finding out how many links are pointing to their website or blog?

In fact this has been their main activity all day long but a tedious one really.
Now Google releases a new link reporting tool, a new support allowing you to view and even download thousands of links to your site.

You still won't get absolutely all the links Google knows about. In particular, links to any of your pages contained in Google's supplemental index won't be shown. But despite this, the amount of links reported will likely be massive compared to the "regular" link lookup command.

"Webmasters have been wanting more comprehensive link data from us for a long time," said Vanessa Fox, product manager for Google Webmaster Central. "We created Webmaster Central to communicate better with webmasters and we take their feedback very seriously. We have been looking at ways to provide this data and are ecstatic to make it available."

A new encryption technology.

This is one of my favorite subject.

I keep abreast of latest developments in the encryption technology by reading several technology websites and blogs.

One of the latest developments in encryption technology is the so-called geo-encryption or geoencryption. It was developed by Dorothy Denning, PhD, a cryptology expert who designed location-based encryption in the wake of 9/11. In a nutshell, it allows information to be transmitted fully encrypted from the sender to the recipient.

It can only be decrypted upon arrival at a specific destination, which can be located by GPS, which is short for Global Positioning System (Takahashi, 2005). While this technology is quite new, has been granted a patent, and looks really promising, it has been receiving accolades as well as sour notes, especially from the e-commerce players. GPS itself is a already widely used as an automobile navigational tool, which was first developed by the government in 1978 to pinpoint exact location of a particular object.

A.E. Feldman Associate’s 40 years record as recruiters.

I have known companies that have been performing over 40 years but those are engaged in heavy industries, consumables and of course State owned public services.

But a headhunters firm that has been some sort of a haven to qualified executives who are looking forward to better placement, has survived all odds since 1967, must be a world record.

Unless such a total service industry has maintained a high standard of service and commitment in the recruiting field they could not have been held in high esteem by the public.

Their reputation, discretion and consistent record of successful placements have helped them build strong and trusted relationships with industry-leading clients and top-quality candidates.

AEF has thoroughly trained recruiters in the field of financial and risk management services, legal and legal support services, communications and technology, human resources consulting, and luxury products.

They know the pulse of their respective fields that enable them to make the best matches and find the tightest fits for each job.

This a widgets treasure box.

Widgetbox is the leader in creating a web widget marketplace that provides widgets for use with blogs, social networks, auctions and web pages.

Though I am not a fan of widgets, I can always appreciate one when I see it.

There are plenty of widgets in widgets box.
The categories are blogosphere, communication, fun and games, information and money makers.

I was indeed curious about, yes, you guessed it correct, The Money Makers widget.
There are a few on eBay power selling and all that. And the one I previewed was about 'Start your online coaching service on your blog and make money out of it'. This is called WDeal.

It said, "Our widget allows you to stick a “call me” button directly onto your blog in order for knowledge-seekers to get connected to you in just a click".

"WDeal is a social marketplace that enables individuals to Search, Buy, and Sell real-time services online via voip conversations".

I am ashamed to admit my ignorance about using widgets but I know many of readers will thank me for this introduction.

25% cash back when you shop….

An online shopper is usually loyal which means he or she do not like to change their online shops for any reason. There can be several reasons but to my mind only one thing strikes; that is reliability of the web site.

Shoppers may even compromise on the price of the goods but never on reliability.

Ebates that has over 800 online stores has this-reliability with the seal of BBB.

One of the Ebates’ stores is apple which is the leading manufacturer and retailer break-through consumer electronics including the iPod, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, MacBook notebook, Mac mini desktop, iMac desktop and Apple TV.

If you click on the above link you can take advantage of the Apple coupons, specials or sales. If there is an Apple coupon code or promo code associated with the offer, simply enter it in the Apple shopping cart to redeem it.

Become a member and shop through Ebates, and you can save literally thousands of dollars every year on the things you're already buying and the becoming a member is free.

Pay per post bloggers are again targetted.

One by one, slowly but regularly dropping bloggers and deleting blog posts related to pay per post.

Why? But why?

They cite the reason as 'Link spamming' and I sincerely feel this as an excuse to tag along their peers. In order to retain their name(?) in their own arena, they(tail rank) assume that they must do what their peers do, else...else what? Will they get banned from the internet altogether? Who are they afraid of?

If they care to look at stumble, Furl, and etc etc, they can very well see one single story appears every where in the social search engines word by word! If one googles 'Sproose', the search results would be in thousands, which means Google alone has thousands of links to 'Sproose'.

Has the Google banned the 'Sproose'?

Can't I, and another person in the other side of the world, discuss about a new search engine?

So, where it narrows down to? Hypocrisy and nothing but that!

Find hottest posts from thousands of blogs.

When I said "Find hottest posts from thousands of blogs", I did not mean you.

I meant 'Tail rank' that does the task of finding it for us.

Tailrank takes into consideration linking behavior, the text of the post, links in common with other users, text relevance, weblog ranking, past performance, and various other factors for recommendations and findings.

The official company blog is at blog.tailrank.com. You can also read about Tailrank's progress on Kevin Burton's Feed Blog which is the main blog for Tailrank's founder.

Tailrank is a small startup based out of San Francisco which has plenty of cool ideas.

I visit Tail rank several times a day for nothing particular but to kill time. Hey, that is meant as a compliment you know!
