Cold weather continues in Europe

As Christmas draws near many will be hoping that the warnings of more heavy snow to come in some areas turn out to be wrong.

Many decided to remain at home rather than attempt what could be a treacherous journey to work. The Highways Agency has advised motorists to check conditions before venturing out

And the beach in Weston-Super-Mare also resembled a polar landscape.

Botany Bay, rainbow

We've had a had a lot of grey skies and spring showers over the last week. On Friday afternoon, I noticed this amazing rainbow in the sky and followed it to Botany Bay. By the time I was out of my car, the storm clouds started gathering again and the rainbow had lost some of its brilliance but I managed a couple of snaps before it disappeared.

Arncliffe railway station, dust storm

It's been a week since we had the biggest dust storm in 70 years but I had one more photo of Arncliffe railway station to share from that day.

On Wednesday morning an eerie orange-red glare covered Sydney's sky, caused by the worst dust storm in 70 years. Strong winds carried the iron-rich dust from the dry outback interior to the east coast, creating a orange-red haze. Dust storms are more common in the desert and outback but this was a very unusual sight for Sydney. The photos above were taken at Rockdale railway station around 6.45am, on my way to work.
