New Things

I got this corner desk for $10.00. It will look very fabulous after this weekend. I'm kinda excited....

I finally broke down and bought this Dyson vacuum cleaner. I can't stop vacuuming, it's really a miracle worker.

Since I'm officially training for a FULL marathon (eeek! I'm so scared) I went ahead and bought much needed new shoes.

Do you know how to tell if you need new running shoes? I usually go with the 400 mile rule - new shoes every 400 miles. Check out the tread difference on the new shoes and old ones.

Last year when I really got serious about running I went to the uber cool running store and got "fitted". That means I ran on a treadmill and the professional foot fitter video taped my feet as I ran. Then he played it back in slow motion to see how/if my feet turn or roll when I run.

While that is all VERY interesting, the funny part of this story is that when he brings back the "perfect" shoe for my feet the shoes themselves are quite ugly. While this shouldn't matter, it does to me. Anyway, he tells me that these are men's shoes....because my feet are so wide and big that I should have never worn women's shoes, ever. Oh the nerve! The truth hurts, huh? After I recovered from his harsh words I went ahead and bought the expensive MEN's shoes. I'm so glad I did because my feet are happy with all the extra room they now have.

All that to say, yesterday when I went back into the store to buy the same shoe, but this year's model, the sales lady didn't believe me when I told her I needed a men's 9. I laughed and told her that sadly it was true.
