Petersham, fire station

This historic building is the former Petersham fire station, located on Stanmore Road, at the corner of Albert Street. It was restored in 2003 and is now a residential building.

Petersham, railway station

The former Petersham railway station building is located in Terminus Street in the inner west suburb of Petersham. This heritage listed building, completed in 1885, was designed by George Cowdery in the Victorian Italianate architectural style. It is the only major 'First Class' station building known to have been built in Sydney in the 19th century. The main block features a central tower, sandstone steps onto a veranda, supported on cast iron columns with decorative lacework. The railway platform behind it features an awning supported by cast iron columns with decorative cast iron lace work.

Petersham, church

This shop and residential building built in the Federation architecture style is located on the corner of Audley Street and Trafalgar Street, in the inner west suburb of Petersham. It has been used as a church by the Petersham Assembly of God since 1965.

Petersham, shops

These two heritage buildings in Victorian styles are located on Parramatta Road, in the inner west suburb of Petersham, bordering Leichhardt. Both Brighton Hall and the building with the iron lacework balcony and corrugated bullnose awning have been restored and are now used as commercial space. Anyone that is familiar with Parramatta Road would know how lucky I was to find a rare quiet moment to take this shot unobstructed by traffic and only one parked van out the front.
