Dear Valued Customers,
Our family is excited to announce the expanison of our Country Store and Restaurant, located in Belleville, Illinois. One hundred years ago, Alvin O. Eckert, my great-great grandfather and the fourth generation of Eckert's to farm in St. Clair County, opened A.O. Eckert's Roadside Market, which was then a simple roadside farm stand. Subsequent generations continued to evolve the family business creating a destination that millions of families have visited over the years. Today, we represent the sixth and seventh generations of my family to farm in St. Clair county and this project continues this evolution. Eckert's will continue creating family memories for another 100 years with this new facility.
Today, we are breaking ground on a new 22,000 square foot Country Store, with expectations to open the doors to you in July 2010. The new facility will boast expanded space for local produce, locally raised beef and pork in a fresh meat shop, specialty foods, an expanded bakery and a 1,200 square foot cooking and workshop classroom. The Country Restaurant will also expand by 180 seats, doubling our capacity to serve guests. The expanded restaurant is scheduled to be completed in September 2010.
We are appreciative of the community's support as we move forward in building on the Eckert's tradition for the next 100 years. Through our expanded presence in Belleville, we hope to maintain an identity of Eckert's that generations of customers have created family memories with, while expanding our year-round programs and offerings as a specialty grocer of quality, locally grown products.
The design of our new Country Store and Restaurant is intended to honor our 100 year history while enhancing our customer experience year round.
We would like to thank you, our customers, for your continued support and invite you to celebrate with us over the next year. Please check back often for updates which can be found here on our blog, or are website, twitter and facebook page. We will keep you informed of our progress and would love to hear your comments or questions about our project.
Sincerely,
Chris Eckert
President, Eckert's Inc.
