Wolli Creek, St Magdalen's Chapel

St Magdalen's Chapel is located in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. The Sisters of the Good Samaritan bought the Greenbank estate in 1884 to use as a charitable refuge for women. The chapel was designed by Sheerin & Hennessy in the Victorian neo-Gothic architectural style and built it in 1888. In recent years it has been deconsecrated and restored to form part of the Discovery Point residential redevelopment site.

Wolli Creek, Wolli Dancing (Theme Day: The Colour Green)

This green sculpture is located in the middle of a large roundabout at the intersection of Arncliffe Street and Brodie Sparks Drive, in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. "Wolli Dancing" was created by Australian sculptor Blaze Krstanoski-Blazeski and unveiled in this newly redeveloped area in 2008. The plaque reads: Wolli Dancing relates to the Wolli tradition; a place that represents openness, which expresses joy, such as dancing. It captures the sensation and enthusiasm of the performers.

Tempe, Cooks River sunset

The view across the Cooks River at sunset from Tempe towards the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. These were taken a few minutes apart and I couldn't decide which one I liked better because one had more colourful reflections in the water, while the other had more colours in the sky.

Wolli Creek palms

These palms and flowers are a welcome new addition beside the Princes Highway at Wolli Creek, sitting in Cahill Park beside the Cooks River.

Undercliffe, Turella Reserve, motorway stack

This controversial exhaust stack for M5 motorway tunnel is located in Turrella Reserve at Undercliffe, beside Wolli Creek. It's quite an ugly structure on the skyline but with the fading light at dusk, even the ugliest structures can sometimes look good. The tall apartment blocks at nearby Wolli Creek can be seen in the distance.

Wolli Creek

Wolli Creek runs between the southern suburbs of Undercliffe and Wolli Creek and empties into the Cooks River near the suburb of Tempe. These apartments (top) dominate the skyline at Wolli Creek. The bridge (bottom) over Wolli Creek, located a bit further upstream, carries the Southern and Western Suburbs Ocean Outfall Sewer.

Wolli Creek Railway Station

Wolli Creek railway station is a junction for the Illawarra, Airport and East Hills railway lines. It opened in 2000 as part of the Airport link.

Wolli Creek, Tempe House

Tempe House sits on the southern shore of the Cooks River in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. It was designed by John Verge and built by Alexander Brodie Spark in 1836. It has a Georgian feel and regarded as one of the great houses of Sydney. It was named after the 'Vale of Tempe', a beautiful valley in ancient Greek legend set at the foot of Mount Olympus in Greece.
