Best of Resort 2012 | Balmain

The Balmain's young designer - Olivier Rousteing, rocks the showroom. His fans are real Balmainiacs! Rousteing's Resort lineup is very much in the rock 'n' roll spirit that his former boss of Balmain was known for.

Elvis in Las Vegas was a reference point for an evening jacket beaded in red, navy, gold, and white and trimmed in gold chains, but the King could never fit himself into its super-narrow sleeves. Smokings and military-sharp blazers had similarly attenuated proportions; shoulders were strong but not "tennis ball"-big. Still, the silhouette wasn't always so demanding: Eagle-print jersey tees and track pants literally slouched off the body, and a matching bomber and running shorts look in the same Americana/biker girl motif had a chill sensibility—not that you'd want to work out in clothes with price tags like these. Under Rousteing, elaborate, couture-grade handwork will continue to be a calling card for Balmain, and the sun-bleached Native American embroidery covering a jacket, a miniskirt, and an itty-bitty dress will command big bucks. But he smartly made inroads on the lower end of the price spectrum, too. A newly launched bathing suit range will be an easy sell to fans of the label's sexy vibe.

Best of Resort 2012 | Versace

I never was a Versace fan, but I'd wear this collection. Donatella Versace's renewed embrace of the house's heritage— her designes are hope for the future. I love the vacation dresses in a tropical print inspired by Matisse's Bouquet. And the couture-level workmanship on a cropped-below-the-bust jacket handmade from stamped leather, knit, and raffia.

Best of Resort 2012 | Salvatore Ferragamo

The designer Massimiliano Giornetti, brought Glamour and elegance to Ferragamo's Resort 2012 collection.
The clothes looked sinuously draped floor-length gowns, tiers of fringe, wide-legged trousers, and long blazers. Giornetti upgraded marinière stripes, a resort staple, knitting them into white and gold cashmere sweater tops. Yards upon yards of silk, bagfuls of crystal and sequins, and vintage Fred Leighton fine jewels matched the surroundings in screen siren luxe. This collection is sooo elegant, but casual in the same time. Love it! <3

Best of Resort 2012 | Marchesa

When it comes to beautiful red carpet gowns, Marchesa is the right choice for Hollywood celebrities. The floaty coral caftan with the matching bead embroidery at the shoulders and the thigh-scraping metallic lace dress were designed for parties by the pool and cocktails under the stars rather than the red carpet and the photographers angling for shots beside it.

Best of Resort 2012 | Elie Saab

The Beirut born designer Elie Saab made a change to his evening-coctail-dresses. Double crepe jackets were cut close to the body with a little flip at the hem, and trousers came in two styles: lean and leaner. A chartreuse tie-neck blouse worn with high-waisted pants as snug as jodhpurs played into fashion's current fixation with neons. After-dark options were likewise bright—fuchsia, turquoise, red—but the silhouettes weren't as new. No matter, his celebrity following will snap them up for the red carpet.

I am so glad that Sarah Burton is working for Alexander McQueen, she is doing a great job and won so many woman's heart. For resort 2012 her motto was "Romantic utility" which I really love. The collection is a mix of the military green, embroidery garments, high-waisted belts, mid calf skirts and jackets, that makes the meaning of a twenty-first century princess. Even better introducing cotton to McQueen family is a fabulous idea!
