My mom came to visit this weekend and brought me the cutest rubber gloves ever - I can now clean in style! There are so many cute styles here http://www.gloveablesinc.com/ - however they are sold out right now, but you can find them on ebay. 
Sidenote: my dishes are NOT so bad that I needed to use gloves. But my grandmother (Drewa) is 80 and has really pretty hands because she has always used gloves to do the dishes..... maybe this is something I should think about!
Creative gift note: This would make a really cute wedding shower gift with some cleaning supplies all thrown into a basket.
