Motorola Xoom vs iPad vs PlayBook


The New Technology From Motorolla.
When the Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook hit the market, we'll have two serious challengers to the iPad.
And, perhaps most interestingly, all three will be running different operating systems. So let's compare how the two newcomers stack up against the hottest tablet yet released.
In terms of releases, Motorola won't say anything about the Xoom's UK release date, though it is pencilled in for the first quarter of 2011 in the US. However, it depends on when Google is planning on getting Honeycomb out the door.


OS
This is the biggest difference between the three tablets. The iPad runs Apple's own iOS, the Moto Xoom Android 3.0 Honeycomb and the BlackBerry PlayBook runs RIM's own bespoke Tablet OS. The Xoom was the main unit used to demo Android 3.0 Honeycomb, at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, though we only saw videos of OS features running on the new device.

There will also be no Motorola MotoBlur interface overlaying Android 3.0 – this could be part of a bigger move by Google to stop having so many variants of Android.
We got hands on with the BlackBerry PlayBookat CES a few weeks ago and it's a serious threat to the iPad's dominance of the sector. TechRadar's Reviews Editor James Rivington says the PlayBook "could well be the tablet that changes the game. In a word, it's a triumph."

Processor
All three units use ARM-based silicon. The iPad runs Apple's own A4 processor clocked at 1GHz (it's less in the iPhone 4), while the Xoom plumps for a dual-core Nvida Tegra 2 processor, capable of 720p video or sending 1080p full HD to your TV via HDMI. The PlayBook is also running a dual core 1GHz Cortex-A9-based processor, though there are no more details on who has manufactured it. It's probably an Nvidia Tegra 2.


Touchcreen
The Motorola Xoom has a 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 display. The PlayBook is only a 7-inch tablet and to us it can feel small. The touch on the PlayBook does extend right across the bezel though, which is a nice touch and pretty important for navigating around the OS.
The screens on both the PlayBook and Xoom look pretty spectacular even under the bright show lights where we checked them out. The PlayBook'ssize gives it an advantage though, as we said in our hands on:
"The PlayBook's 1024 x 600 resolution isn't far off the 9.7-inch 1024x768 iPad, but because of the Playbook's 7-inch display, the increased pixel density makes all the difference. It's sharp and crisp, and 1080p HD video looks fabulous."

 If technology is evolving with each passing minute then why should the gadgets and accessories remain square and orthodox? Catching up the technological evolution, Canadian firm Deanmark Ltd has come up with a revolutionary computer mouse that invariably becomes an integral part of your body. Hailed as the “AirMouse,” the radical mouse can be worn on your hand like a glove, allowing easy as well as brisk web navigation. Integrating a right and left click mouse buttons in the palm, the AirMouse comes equipped with optical tracking laser that lasts for a week on single charge.



In comparison to the conventional mice, the AirMouse reduces the excessive force in a huge way, as it aligns itself with the user’s hand and wrist ligaments to keep the hand in a neutral position. Moreover, the user can type on the keyboard with ease without removing the glove. The wearable mouse will be available for a reasonable $129 by the end of the year.

Don't throw away your newspapers.



First, I will tell you about electronic ink and then tell you why you need not throw away your used news papers.

I am sure you are aware of e-paper-the daily news papers you receive in your mail box are also available in digital form in your computer. Unlike a conventional flat panel display, which uses a backlight to illuminate its pixels, electronic paper reflects light like ordinary paper and is capable of holding text and images indefinitely without drawing electricity, while allowing the image to be changed later.

The e-ink rearranges itself each morning to form new headlines. Or maybe you've just finished pouring over a new best seller. No need to pass it along to a friend; the print can morph Harry Potter style into a new book.

Sound unreal? It is the world of electronic ink.

The e-ink, in its appearance is similar to regular ink but there is an uniqueness about it. It is made up of many tiny capsules, these capsules are filled with ink, and the ink contains white particles that have a negative charge. These three properties allow an electronic ink display to be changed on demand.

E ink can be used on many of the same surfaces as regular ink

Faith unlocks the door; your fingers too.

I could not care less for newspaper reports of house breaks in suburban areas. This doesn’t imply that I live in the heart of city; I live far away from it.

Of course I have some valuables in my house that are obviously more valuable for intruders.

No, I have not insured my properties.

I have not posted any security at my house.

My house is not wired to any fancy home security gadgets.

Still, I am not afraid to go on a long holiday locking my house behind simply because my house is break proof; it has keyless lock. Oh, I know I am building up the suspense. I enjoy it more when I break the suspense.

My house door can be unlocked only by my finger. This keyless lock technology is based on ‘Biometrics’ that is used in authentication purposes by finger prints, eye contacts and even voice recognition.

BTW, my house’s main door is not fitted with biometric lock but my bedroom cum office where the most valuable property is the DATA in my computer.

Please have a look at this keyless lock that looks very sturdy and safe. Again, it recognizes only your finger prints.

Can use IR mobile as a modem.

Using your infra red Nokia phone to use as a modem to connect to the Internet requires some technical guidance. And this will be very handy when you travel carrying your laptop without any broadband Internet connection.

This technology uses the ancient dial-up connection and yes, it will be slow but still useful when you have no other way to go online.

To make new Internet connection follow this steps:

1. Select Connect to the Internet. Click Next.

2. Select Set up my connection manually. Click Next.

3. Select Connect using a dial-up modem. Click Next.

4. Check the option Infrared Modem. Click Next.

5. Give a name to your ISP. Click Next.

Speak from your mobile while sailing.

I was on the dot for my appointment with a BPO provider. I was there to inquire about the possibility of renewing a contract for my online contact. The original contract with a Swedish company was about to expire.

The BPO company is housed in a high rise building in a sprawling campus consisting of more than 15 giant towers.

I sat facing an imposing man who showed indifference to me. May be my diminutive stature didn’t seem to go well with him. But as the discussion progressed, he became more attentive to me. My in depth knowledge about the topic must have made him to look at me with some respect.

In between our meeting, he kept receiving intermittent calls on his mobile. Suddenly I realized that I am a witness to a technology that was new to me. I am aware that cell phones either go silent or they are reluctant to give uninterrupted signal in high rise buildings or wherever there is a concrete jungle.

I took up the courage to ask him how come he is able to talk freely on his mobile phone when sitting in his office on 7th floor. He was suddenly pleased. With a look of pride, he informed me that cell phone repeaters are installed in all the buildings in the campus.

He explained that a cell phone repeater works like an amplifier that picks up the radio signal from the base tower and amplifies the signal in such a way that signal is clear even inside the building or deep underground.

“Does it mean that the battery power lasts longer because it need not have to strain itself to pick up the radio signal”?-I asked.

His face lit up with appreciation and affirmed my guess.
