The Week in Review

Although I don't have a lot to show for it really, some stuff was accomplished this past week.  For me, the biggest thing was locating fabric I would be happy with for the leaves and stems of the pieced flower border for the pink-and-white double four patch.

Had a great day shopping yesterday and found four fun fat quarters to play with...   (How's that for alliteration?)

Also found some magazine storage bins to store quilting magazines and books that will look nice on the shelf...

I will be organized if it kills me...   *lol*

I also made a few mug rugs... a quick project that I can do after work when I'm too tired to tackle a large project but a nice way to be productive while I relax...

 

 

Today, I'll work on the math part of the pieced flower border and try making a folding scrap bin following the tutorial posted by Chris of Weekend Wisdom.

The cheapest shopping place in the world

"Madras" would be my reply without hesitation if anyone asks me which the cheapest place in the world for shopping is.

I am amazed at the price range for everything that is available in Madras, especially in the 'Sowcarpet' area. It is truly a bargainer's place for shopping.

My son is leaving for Hyderabad on Monday for a three month training session. He wanted a 'pull on' type luggage and he also told me where I can buy it cheaply.

I took a local train to Madras Central and from there I reached the shop by walk. I headed straight for the luggage section and I was amazed at the great range of luggage. I spotted the one I wanted and asked for its price.

I was prepared for the price and when I offered to pay nearly 25% less, the shop owner agreed though reluctantly.

I browsed the shopping mall and saw the big range of imported goods that are cheaper than elsewhere in Madras.

No wonder, Sowcarpet is the busiest shopping area in good old Madras.

Obviously, our mailbox will be stuffed with sales flyers, discount offers, festival discounts, surprise gifts from several shopping malls, products manufacturers and retails stores because of Christmas and New Year.

We too leave behinds ghosts of economic recession behind and spend our yearly savings with high hopes for a more prosperous new year. Years of winter shopping experience will remind us to stock food and wine sufficiently.

The products were immediately visible and for once the over enthusiastic sales girls faded into the background of neatly arranged trade show exhibits that spoke of volumes of aesthetic sense of the organizers.

The biennial life style exhibition is my favorite shopping paradise. I invariably end up exhausting my credit card limits in the exhibition.

My usual buys are table covers, mobile phones, artificial plants and home fountains. Do you see the picture in this blog? It is a plastic throw cover and I immediately fell for the color and texture.
