Weekend Recap

I went to Fayetteville this weekend to see my family and friends. Kent-o went on a 4 day fishing trip and did not take one picture. How is that possible!??!
here is the non-glamarous recap of my weekend:

-Asked Stephanie to play tennis.
-Got to the tennis courts & told Steph I didn't know how to play & that she needed to teach me.
-By the end of my "lesson" I was able to serve into the opposite little square. [Only because I had such a good teacher!]
-Ate LOTS of yummy food.
-Took my brother's rottweiler, Roxie, for a walk. Turns out she walked me.
-Saw Amber's new HOUSE and it's gorgeous!
-Finally saw the Blind Side.
-Found out my Dad is the one usually playing me on Words, not my Mom. [it's her phone.]
-Got to see all 3 brothers. That in itself is a miracle!
-Made my mother's weekend by finally finding a Vera Bradley pattern I like. It is "Call Me Coral".
-Ran with my Dad.
-Came home and Captain Jack was still in the backyard. I was a little worried he wouldn't be...

Stay tuned for pictures. You won't want to miss these.

S.P.R.I.N.G.

GOOD BYE WINTER....?

Saturday was the FIRST official day of spring. And for Arkansas that means 70+ degree weather. However, mother nature surprised us all! My parent's house in Fayetteville looks so pretty with 14 inches of snow.
I woke up Saturday morning and it was snowing in Benton. Big flakes too!
Anyhow, I am super excited that spring is officially here. Because that means SUMMER is next! I cannot wait to lay out by the pool. Yesterday Kent-o told me that I need a tan in a bad way. I know I do. It's true. But ever since I heard that tanning beds are worse for you than smoking, I have avoided them like the plague.

On Friday night we got Weldon's again. I think this might become a Friday night tradition. Weldon's is a meat market in Hot Springs that has the best steak I have EVER eaten. It is super dense and very delicious.   The stuffed mushrooms and twice baked potatoes were pretty good too. Kent grilling away:

My mom and sister came down on Saturday for KK's state gymnastics meet. Then we took her to meet the 150+ 9th graders for her spring break mission trip. She has never been on any sort of mission trip, so I am super excited for her. I think her eyes are really going to be opened when she sees where and how other people live.

On Sunday my mom and I went to Hot Springs for the whole day to shop, shop, shop! It was a lot of fun, despite the cold, wind and rain. Whenever it does warm up, I will be prepared with a closet full of spring/summer clothes!

I'm LOVING dresses right now. Especially these from Billabong.

I got my nails done by yours truly....
I've got a pretty good system down of doing them myself. I used to get acrylic nails, but the last time [2 yrs ago] the lady did them she literally killed one of my nails. The dermatologist had to cut it out. And then it took one whole year to grow back. Gross, huh?

Since it's Monday, here's a little something to help you thru your day.
I'm guessing basic logic/common sense was not a needed skill for a job at this bakery. Just a guess.

Running, Marietta-Georgia, Politics, & Time Change

I'm getting the running bug again. I'm sure it has something to do with the fabulous weather we've been having here in Arkansas. One of my "goals" this year is to run a full marathon. The Chicago half-marathon last year was so flat and the weather was a-mazing. I got on their website just to see when the full would be and it said that you had better register because it fills up in April! It's not until October! So now I'm forced to decide RIGHT NOW if I want to do it....
I keep watching this video to get my siked about giving them my $125:

The excitement of all those people will surely help me finish the 26.2....right?

Anyhoo....
I really like seeing that someone in Marietta, Georgia reads my blog. I worked at a water park in Destin for two summers in college and my nametag said "Marietta" [duh, right?]. A lot of people from Georgia vacation in Destin, so about two or three times a DAY I got asked if that was my hometown. People thought that the water park put our hometown's on our nametags, not our names. Strange.

I work at the Arkansas State Capitol and last week it was Candidate Filing time. In the picture below a lot of politicians are gathering in the Rotunda to file. The big cluster is Senator Lincoln filing to run again.
I am always super interested in who filed for what office. Kinda wierd, I know. My Dad really enjoys listening to all of the "insider" info I have. Or he humors me. Whatev.
Don't forget to set you clocks back or forward or sideways [any Lost fans?!?!] tomorrow night. Sunday will be awesomely long. I can't wait.

Boring Bullet Points

  • Kent and I are doing the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace study. We're actually excited about saving money!
  • My gym in Benton asked me to become an instructor and is paying for the cerfication in January. This holiday season I will not be consuming much any pecan pie.
  • My IT band has been KILLING me - anyone know how to work this kink out? [i've been icing it after every run]
  • Tonight is the Biggest Loser make-over episode. I cannot wait!
  • I can't quit eating brie and Triskets. If I don't stop soon the gym may ask me to NOT get certified!
  • My mom bought the cutest baby crib EVER [No, I'm not pregnant, sometimes you just have to plan wayyyy ahead to get what you want!]:

I've always said SOMEDAY I want a round crib - well they are VERY expensive. There is one in Fayetteville for $3,000. Three thousand. Yes.

She found this crib in a Van Buren antique store for $250. That includes the crib, mattress, bedding, extra sheets and more canopy stuff. So excited to put this thing in storage!
P.S. When I told Kent what we had bought he took it surprisingly well.

Happy Wednesday

I got my hair winterized. What do you think?

I left my car door open as I was shutting the garage and when I got in Captain Jack  was sitting there ready to go to work with me.  Poor guy didn't want to be left alone. I don't blame him!

Kent in his hunting clothes. So cute.

Drewa & Poppa [grandparents] are coming to Fayetteville this weekend to see me! [and their 4 other grandkids]

Stephanie Peters is taking my entire family's photo this weekend and also our [kent, me, captain jack] Christmas picture.  Get excited.

Also, for those of you that watch Biggest Loser... WHY did they send Abby home? I just love her. LOVE her. Send Daniel home. He lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks AND this is his second time around. Loser.
