New place, New adventures, New outlook!

As I told you all I had quite the eventful weekend!!

Thankfully the boss lady let me have off Friday, which was delightful, was able to sleep in a little, make a delicious homemade breakfast and have a quick workout all before my mom arrived!

Her flight thankfully was on time (despite Hurricane Earl, which turned out to be a joke for all of us up here in DC) and I met her at the metro station! I was absolutely estactic for her arrival, she hadn't been back here to visit since right after I had moved into my first apartment! I decided to take her to Old Town, Alexandria because I knew she would love the shops and the waterfront!

Our first stop was at the used bookstore which could be one of my favorite places in Old Town! There's something great about an old musty used bookstore, that is crammed from the front door to the very back with any and all books that could be imagined! Both my mom and I found a few books! (I finally gave in a purchased, Galloway's Marathon book)

Next was many home decor shops, all way above my cash flow but it was fun to get ideas! I also managed to stumble into Nine West, and this may of happened....

(ankle camel boot, and an awesome neutral pump!!)

Later after relaxing by the waterfront we made our way to O'Connels, which was highly recommended! It was such a fun surprise, from the outside and even the inside it looked like your basic Irish pub, but we ventured upstairs into a back corner and was greeted by a quiet atmosphere and terrific service. We spilt the Irish Potato Croquettes, which consisted of:
Whipped potatoes & crisp cabbage blended with Irish cheeses, breaded, and quickly fried. Served with Cumberland sauce (which resembled a raspberry sauce, absolutely decadent!)
And then got the Pan-Roasted Scallops with a Wild Mushroom risotto, and miso vinaigrette dressed greens, the scallops were delicious!!

After the amazing shopping, site seeing and dinner we headed back home!

Saturday morning was greeted by a 5:30am wake up call, and my usual Saturday morning run! Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I hoped, I ended up running with a much slower group (which I thought would benefit me, especially while tackling 18 miles) but in all honesty just threw my groove off and it ended up being one of my hardest runs!

Later we grabbed some food and headed out to the outlet mall! Got a few good buys, (crowded but worth it in the sales we found) The end of the trip was completed by a VERY successful trip to Costco! I finally got my first flat screen, (which has a very nice new home in our new apartment)

After the outlet and costco, we got back into town dropped off all the new buys, and quickly headed to our dinner reservation at Quarterdeck!! I had been hearing about this place since I moved here, and had actually made a reservation earlier in the summer but had to cancel, so with my Floridian mother in town I thought it would be the perfect occasions!! Man, oh man was it an experience! Quick mental photo: outside picnic-isque tables, lined with paper dining clothes, pitchers of beer, and huge buckets of endless crabs and of course Old Bay seasoning! 3 hours later, 3 pitchers, and about 40 + crabs, the three of us waddled our way out!
(Highly recommend this place, endless Maryland Blue Crab in season through October)

Sunday was the big moving day, with lots of help, and a Uhaul we were able to make only one VERY large and stuffed trip to the new place!
Here is a few pictures of the new place:

Our amazing new sofas, they are so gorgeous and so comfy!!

May possibly be my most favorite part of my new place!! Now I understand Carrie's shoe obsession!

Pretty roses, for our brand new kitchen!!!

So as you can see I had quite the eventful weekend! I rounded out Monday, by finding a new golden treasure only blocks from the new place, where I had the BEST latte, I've had since Italy! and an amazing fresh blueberry and peach muffin! And the best part: starting at 5:00pm every evening it turns from a coffee shop to a wine bar! (I will definitely be spotted there quite frequently)

Later I sadly had to say goodbye to the mama! and then later enjoyed a fun Labor Day BBQ!

Sorry for the late post, but had to round up some photos! I will be posting more as we continue to decorate!!
