[Was lazy & watched TV]
I took off the hardware and started sanding.
This piece had been painted four different colors - I actually thought it would have been cool to sand off the black and leave the other colors showing.
You always start from the bottom when painting - if you flip the furniture upside down you don't have to wait for the top to dry to paint the legs and bottom parts.I used the leftover primer from my bedroom walls. I did buy a very white 1 liter "tester" tub from Sherwin Williams. They will mix any color for you, are only $5 and you can complete 3-4 furniture projects [at least] out of one tub.
I wanted this piece to look a little different so I decided to go for the "whitewash" look. I painted a one square foot section, then took a dry sock and wiped off all the paint. It turned out great! [although hard to see in these photos]
