House Projects

[Was lazy & watched TV]

I finally completed the TV stand/dresser for my bedroom. It started out black:
I took off the hardware and started sanding.
This piece had been painted four different colors - I actually thought it would have been cool to sand off the black and leave the other colors showing.

You always start from the bottom when painting - if you flip the furniture upside down you don't have to wait for the top to dry to paint the legs and bottom parts.
I used the leftover primer from my bedroom walls. I did buy a very white 1 liter "tester" tub from Sherwin Williams. They will mix any color for you, are only $5 and you can complete 3-4 furniture projects [at least] out of one tub.

I wanted this piece to look a little different so I decided to go for the "whitewash" look. I painted a one square foot section, then took a dry sock and wiped off all the paint. It turned out great! [although hard to see in these photos]New hardware from Target: $3.99.
Ta da! Finished tv stand!
